Why We Walk
For Those in Hard Places
Between a Walk and a Hard Place is a moment when communities across the United States step toward people who have been backed into very hard places.
Together, we’re raising funds for remarkable local charity partners who work tirelessly to serve and support people who are displaced, vulnerable, or exploited.
- We walk for neighbors and friends who have been pushed out of stability and are trying to find their footing again.
- We walk for those exposed to harm — living without the safety, protection, or support many of us take for granted.
- We walk for people whose labor or bodies have been exploited, and whose path forward is controlled by others.
- We walk for families navigating poverty, illness, re-entry, displacement, or arrival in a new land.
We walk humbly, recognizing how quickly things can change and how quickly any one of us could find ourselves in a hard place.
Each step we take is a step toward safety, dignity, and belonging.
