The Event
Essentials
Between a Walk and a Hard Place (HPW) is a fundraising walk for local charities helping people backed into hard places - people who are displaced, vulnerable, or exploited.
- Date: Saturday, September 26, 2026
- Locations: Hosted by local charity partners in cities across the USA
- Each location will host a 5 km and 2 km walk
- You can also choose to walk farther, harder distances: 25 km and 50 km
- Who: Everyone is welcome - come as you are!
- Cost: Registration is free, but fundraising is the heart of the event.
Impact
Our charity partners do remarkable work, and this event is an important annual contribution to the impact they are making in their communities. That’s why we don’t shy away from talking about fundraising.
We set a starting goal of $250 for each participant. You can raise it, lower it, or keep it as-is to encourage every walker to make a tangible difference for their local charity.
- The Get5 Campaign: To make it simple, we recommend using the Get5 campaign approach: focus on finding just five friends or family who will donate $50 or more. Get5 will get you there.
- The Bandana Milestone: As a thank you for your fundraising, we have a special milestone reward. When you reach these levels, you’ll receive the official Hard Place Walk Bandana: a visible symbol of your commitment to those in hard places.
- Adults: Raise $150 to earn your bandana
- Youth: Raise $75 to earn your bandana for those under the age of majority
